September 24th & 25th 2021.
For our collaboration project with lightmoves festival as part of their “Spiral” series, we commissioned Dublin Modular artists Lara Gallagher, Aoife De’Mille, Pauric Freeman and Tadhg Kinsella to fuse live electronics with visuals and dance.
Artists performed in multiple pop up spaces around Limerick City Centre including The Hunt Gallery, People’s Park and Colbert Plaza. These outdoor events created portals for the general public to explore new creative textures within sound, visuals and dance. Aoife performed fusing various screendance films to her live electronics. Lara and Tadhg worked with both film and dance. Lara collaborated with dancer Angie Smalis and Tadhg with Isabella Oberländer, both effortlessly improvising to sound through movement. Pauric performed at the Hunt gallery and also as supporting act for Beatrice Dillion at the closing show for the Lightmoves “Spiral” series. Blending both hardware and software technology creating an abstract audio-visual experience, interweaving motion and timbre through sound and visuals at Dance Limerick.
Big shout out to Jürgen Simpson and Neil O’Connor making it all possible with various digital meetings via zoom and emails throughout the collaborating process. Finally thank you to the Arts Council of Ireland for funding these commissions.
