Rachael Melvin

Rachael Melvin (she/her) is a Dublin / Belfast based artist working in sculpture, drawing and writing. Her practice is rooted in interrogating the social and political dimensions of space and site, examining how the rapid architectural changes within our communities impact our interaction with both public and private spaces. She is particularly interested in how Dublin's ever changing architectural landscape shapes inter-community dynamics and influences how we navigate and understand the permissions of space. Through material and form, Melvin examines accessibility within the arts and attempts to combat its exclusivity through tactile interventions, DIY objects and community collaboration.

Rachael is a former co-director at Catalyst Arts , having curated numerous exhibitions, events and outreach programmes during her tenure. As a visual artist, Rachael is also a studio member at Flax Art Studios, Belfast, and has exhibited at Arcade Studios, Catalyst Arts, Douglas Hyde Gallery, Flax Art Studios.
